At Aviela Parrots, the health, welfare, and responsible placement of our parrots are our highest priorities. We are dedicated to raising happy, healthy, and well-socialized companion birds. We take pride in our breeding standards and offer a comprehensive health guarantee to provide you with peace of mind.
1. Our Pre-Placement Health Promise
Before any bird leaves Aviela Parrots, they undergo a final health check. We ensure that, to the best of our knowledge:
- The bird is in excellent health, active, and alert.
- The bird has been eating, drinking, and producing normal droppings.
- The bird is not showing any signs of infectious diseases or parasites.
- The bird is properly weaned (if applicable) and in appropriate weight for its species.
2. The 72-Hour Health Guarantee (Wellness Check)
We guarantee that your parrot is free from life-threatening congenital defects and communicable diseases for 72 hours (3 days) following the time of pick-up or shipping.
Requirements to maintain this guarantee:
- Mandatory Veterinarian Exam: You must have the bird examined by a licensed Avian Veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving the bird.
- Report Immediate Concerns: If your veterinarian detects a serious illness that originated before the sale, you must contact Aviela Parrots within 24 hours of the exam, along with a written report from the vet.
- Quarantine: The bird must be kept away from all other birds for at least 30 days. Failure to quarantine voids this guarantee.
3. What This Guarantee Covers
If, within the 72-hour period, a certified avian veterinarian finds the bird to be unhealthy, we will offer one of the following options:
- Replacement with a bird of equal value when available.
- A refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping/transport costs) upon return of the bird.
In the unlikely event of death within the first 72 hours, a necropsy (bird autopsy) must be performed by an avian veterinarian to determine if the cause was pre-existing.
4. What Is NOT Covered
- Neglect or Accident: Injuries caused by accidents, escape, improper housing, or mishandling after the bird has left our care.
- Environmental Factors: Illness caused by exposure to toxins (e.g., non-stick cookware, household cleaners, cigarette smoke) or improper sanitation.
- Dietary Issues: Illness resulting from the failure to maintain the bird on the diet recommended by Aviela Parrots.
- Stress: Minor illnesses related to the stress of moving to a new home (e.g., loose droppings), which usually resolve within 24–48 hours.
- Temperament: As animals, we cannot guarantee the future personality, behavioral development, or talking ability of the bird.
5. Limitation of Liability
Aviela Parrots is not responsible for veterinarian bills, lab tests, or shipping costs incurred by the buyer, regardless of the diagnosis.
6. Returning a Bird
If you are unable to keep your parrot, Aviela Parrots will always take the bird back. However, we do not offer refunds on returned birds unless it is covered under the 72-hour health guarantee. We do this to ensure all Aviela birds live a safe, loving life.
By placing a deposit or making a purchase with Aviela Parrots, you agree to the terms of this Health Guarantee.
